Meet April, the heart &
soul behind
how to birth a baby.

Hi, I’m April! I’ve been working in the world of birth and early parenting for over a decade now, from postnatal wards and neonatal units to supporting families as a doula and teaching antenatal classes. But How to Birth a Baby is different.

This course was born out of everything I’ve seen, experienced, and learned, both professionally and personally, and built with the kind of people who ask big questions in mind.

You might say I’m a birth nerd. I’ve supported families through birth in many different settings, and I’ve navigated my own path through abortion, miscarriage, two caesareans, and a vaginal birth after two caesareans. I know what it feels like to want more than just a checklist. To want to understand how birth works, how the system works, and how to feel like you in all of it.

I created How to Birth a Baby because I was tired of antenatal education that felt like it was either trying to scare people or sugar coat everything.

I wanted to offer something that’s honest, grounded, evidence based, and built for people who like to know why, not just be told what to do.

In 2019, I was diagnosed as neurodivergent, and that shifted a lot for me. I stepped back, took time to understand myself, and came back to this work with more clarity and purpose. I retrained with The Perinatal Academy and became a FEDANT accredited antenatal teacher, and I’m still learning, always reflecting, and building something that actually feels good, for me and for the people I support.

Outside of birth work, I’m a mum of three. I love getting lost in a good video game, wandering in nature, and curling up with a feminist podcast, a hot drink, and a bit of cake.

I'm a quiet kind of person, but if you start talking about birth, feminism, or big feelings, I’m all in.

How to Birth a Baby is more than a course. It’s a space. A place to ask real questions, to feel seen and heard, and to prepare for birth in a way that actually makes sense.

I’m so glad you’re here.
